Pictures from meeting the Chief
The Chief is in the middle, the Landlord of all Nyirga and Me
These men were with the Chief as he made his rounds and wanted their
picture taken also.
This is Ba Ba 7 the coolest singer around (just ask him Ha!) He is the Chief’s Grandson and is trying to get his music played in Kumasi. He sings of all the killing and dying in Nigeria and how safe it is in Ghana.
Here Ba Ba 7 is jamin at the local spot and notice all the children in the doorway. We are sitting front row and I was taking pictures which he loved!!!
I did not even take any pictures of the classroom I spent the morning in because I did not want to disrupt but I
am sure a bunch of them are in the doorway watching everything. The White lady brings them all out!!

Weekend in Pictures
Busy weekend visiting, learning new things and being a tourist.
Learned you do not have to throw away your 1.00 flip flop when it breaks. Needle and thread and it is as good as new.
Made my Italian Dressing had to go to store to get oil, asked for Veg oil but lady and I could not communicate so I THINK it is. Anyway, put in a rubber brought home and put in my plastic container and made really good dressing. Thanks Tish.
I went to a school fund raiser and they ladies from the school and village preformed and sang songs saying how they are suffering and need help. But also sang about how happy they were.
Many very important people were there including both chiefs, assembly men etc. Here they are doing a tradition where they are served Pito and they had things to say (I did not understand) and before the each drank they poured some on the ground to honor the Gods.
Then on Sunday a friend picked me up with her Co worker and we took off for an old fashion car trip. I have only a few pictures she is going to email me her’s and will put in a future blog.
Lucas Brianna and I at lunch under the tree. We were hot and each drank a satchel of pure water before we got our 7/up and lunch. We had been to the croc pond and the slave camp and will send pictures when I get them.
UN Secretary General visited this inn, craft center, and shop and they put a statue up for all to see. The young man was explaining a lady in the village was afraid the crafts they were famous for would be forgotten so she put this place together to teach the girls and it has expanded where we can come for classes and stay overnight. They teach basket weaving, pottery, and painting. A nice little oasis.
Here are some examples of their pottery. Very pretty, said no lead paint so you could use them for eating out of. I got the big bowl in middle on the bottom shelve and a couple of other pieces.
Ready to get bike fixed, check into the school and hopefully start my basket weaving lessons. More later. Barbara
